Small Grain

Small Grain

Small grain harvest is in full swing. Grain quality looks really good this year. The cooler season has actually helped small grain fill out so we should have a heavier grain which will mean a more marketable product for our customers.

Soybeans

Soybeans are filling and the recent rain will help them fill out even more. The soybeans in our area look really nice right now. If we could get about an inch of rain every week, that would be great. Also, average temperatures – not extremely high would make for happy soybeans.

Corn

Corn

Most of the corn I’ve seen has pollinated well. Right now it is into the kernel blister stage. We need a little more rain every week for that process to continue. Hopefully we can pull out some more heat units and keep the frost away for another month and a half to really finish that crop off.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa

We had an excellent forage year in 2015. The next thing to keep in mind is to fertilize these crops to help them make it through the winter. Micronutrients like Boron and Sulphur are vital to the success of the 2016 crop year!
